Leyton Orient’s Andrea Dossena has sent flowers to a fan who he hit smack bang in the face with a wayward shot.
The former Liverpool full-back struck supporter Janice Taylor during the warm-up before his side’s away clash against Walsall on Saturday.
“@SChurchett: Dossena, class! jumped straight into the crowd to make sure she’s ok and help.. #lofc pic.twitter.com/jcDOWF6vva” I’m OK now!

Taylor said: “I was quite a long way back. There were only about five rows behind me and the balls that were missing the goal were nowhere near us at all.
“I turned to speak to the guy who was sitting behind me and next thing, wham! It hit the side of my face, caught my glasses and pushed them into my eye socket. I’ve got a cut on my eyebrow and a lovely shiner!”
Dossena was quickly on hand to say sorry and leaped into the stands so he could make sure his victim wasn’t seriously injured.
“I could see there was a player there, didn’t know who, but I could hear him saying ‘I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry!'”
The ex-Italian international has now followed up his frantic apology by sending Taylor a fancy bouquet of flowers.

“They came with a lovely little note saying how sorry he was and that he hoped I was feeling better now,” she said.
Taylor, who is originally from South Hackney and has had a season ticket at Brisbane Road for over forty years, tweeted a picture of her gift with the message: “‘Beautiful flowers came today from Andrea Dossena @leytonorientfc please thank him for me #LOFC’.”
She also had the opportunity to meet the player after last night’s 3-1 home defeat to Bristol City and he presented her with another gift – his shirt.
A gentleman he may be but it looks like Dossena, who has scored 11 goals in 310 career appearances, is in serious need of some shooting practice.
